ATEX Differential Pressure Switch
Adjustable differential pressure switching for filters, fans and ducts in hazardous areas with the Beck 930 Ex.
An ATEX differential pressure switch gives filter alarms, fan proving and airflow monitoring in hazardous areas, certified for the zone. The Beck 930 Ex Climair® adjusts from 20 to 5,000 Pa on a scaled knob, for Ex zones 1, 2 (gas) and 21, 22 (dust), with air and other non-combustible, non-aggressive gases.

ATEX Differential Pressure Switch Guide
How an ATEX differential pressure switch works
Two pressure ports connect either side of a filter, fan or duct. The difference between them acts on a diaphragm against a spring, and when it crosses the set point the diaphragm trips a switch contact. The Beck 930 Ex sets that point on a scaled knob, so no external pressure gauge is needed on site, and it's built for Ex zones 1, 2, 21 and 22 with ATEX type examination.
How to choose an ATEX differential pressure switch
- Range: the 930 Ex adjusts from 20 to 5,000 Pa, wide enough for most bag filter, fan proving and duct alarm applications.
- Zone: it covers gas zones 1 and 2 and dust zones 21 and 22, so confirm which applies at your mounting point.
- Medium: it's for air and other non-combustible, non-aggressive gases. It can't be used to monitor a flammable gas directly; it's installed in the hazardous area, not in the gas line.
- Temperature and protection: medium and ambient temperature -20 to +85 °C, rated over 10⁶ switching operations, IP54 with the cover fitted.
Typical uses
- Applications: dust collector and bag filter pressure drop in coal and grain plants, fan proving in solvent and paint extraction, and duct airflow monitoring in chemical and pharma plants.
- Non-hazardous areas: see Differential Pressure Switches, or for HVAC ducts, see air handling differential pressure transmitters.
FAQ
Common questions
Which zones is the Beck 930 Ex approved for?
Ex zones 1 and 2 for gas, and 21 and 22 for dust, with ATEX type examination. That covers both continuous-risk and occasional-risk classifications for gas and dust atmospheres, so confirm which zone applies at your mounting point before ordering.
Can the 930 Ex monitor a flammable gas line directly?
No. It's designed for air and other non-combustible, non-aggressive gases, and is installed in a hazardous area rather than in contact with a flammable gas stream. For flammable process media, tell us the medium and we'll confirm a suitable pressure instrument.
What pressure range does the ATEX differential pressure switch cover?
The Beck 930 Ex adjusts from 20 to 5,000 Pa, set on a scaled knob without needing an external pressure gauge. That range covers most bag filter pressure drop, fan proving and duct static pressure alarms in hazardous areas.
How is the switch point set on site?
On the scaled adjustment knob built into the 930 Ex, so you can set or change the trip point without a separate pressure gauge. This makes it straightforward to recommission after a filter change or when alarm limits need adjusting.
