The PSD 48 is a compact, mechatronic direct drive featuring an integrated stepper motor, control electronics, bus interface, and a battery-free absolute measurement system. Specially optimized for automated format changeovers, this space-saving drive delivers high velocities at lower torques. By utilizing an absolute measuring system capable of tracking up to 4026 rotations, it completely eliminates time-consuming reference runs upon startup to boost machine efficiency. Direct position measurement ensures high accuracy, while galvanically isolated supply voltages for the control and power electronics allow for an emergency shut-off function to be implemented without breaking communication with the master control module.
Designed for simple installation, the unit mounts directly onto a spindle via a hollow shaft, removing the need for an additional coupling. It features user-friendly external status LEDs and manual rotary addressing switches (except on IO-Link models). For maximum mounting versatility, it is built in a horizontal configuration with an optional rotatable actuator housing that enables flexible machine placement without requiring specialized angle plugs.
