Product Overview
The monitoring of laminar airflow in sterilising tunnels is a critical requirement within the pharmaceutical industry to guarantee the absolute sterility and depyrogenation of glass containers, such as vials, before they are filled with active compounds. After a thorough washing cycle, the containers pass sequentially through three primary process zones: a drying or preheating zone, a high-temperature sterilisation/depyrogenation heating zone, and a final cooling zone. Inside the heating zone, hot sterile air is blown downwards through specialized HEPA filters directly onto the moving containers.
This environment imposes extreme challenges on measuring instruments. The process operates under temperatures exceeding 300 °C, which substantially thins the air density, while the target airflow velocity remains exceptionally low at around 1 m/s. Even minor fluctuations can compromise the sterilization cycle or disrupt the low-turbulence displacement behavior required to protect the cleanroom environment. To safely regulate this environment, Höntzsch provides precision vane wheel technology—specifically the ZS30 series insertion probes—which operate reliably under intense thermal stress and low density to ensure continuous process qualification and safety.
