Product Overview

The Höntzsch Vortex Probe VA40 ZG10 is a specialized, compact flow sensor equipped with an integrated, configurable UVA transducer designed for long-term stationary monitoring of actual flow velocity, flow rate, and total volume. Specifically engineered as a high-performance alternative to expensive tantalum-based systems, this probe features a conductive PVDF polymer body combined with a robust aluminum oxide ceramic transducer and high-grade fluoroelastomer seals. This composition gives the probe exceptional chemical resistance against highly aggressive, caustic, and halogen-containing environments—such as process exhaust streams containing chlorine, hydrogen chloride, or hydrochloric acid vapors.

Operating without any moving mechanical parts, the vortex-shedding measurement principle avoids mechanical wear and drift, ensuring high long-term stability and negligible pressure drop. The sensor boasts an impressive turn-down ratio of 1:80 and a very low starting threshold of 0.5 m/s, making it highly sensitive even at lower flow velocities. Because its operation remains largely independent of gas composition, humidity, or heavy contamination, it performs reliably in clean, moist, condensate-heavy, or fiber- and dust-laden gases. This makes the VA40 ZG10 an ideal choice for challenging industrial loops, including gas scrubber infrastructure, regenerative thermal oxidizers (RTO), and waste incineration plants.
