View Products

An ATEX retractable sensor holder lets you pull a pH or analysis sensor out of the process for cleaning or calibration without stopping production, in a hazardous area. The Exner EXtract 810 is a pneumatically operated housing for 12 mm sensors, 120 to 225 mm long, in stainless steel or Alloy C22, rated to 16 bar and 140 °C.

ATEX Retractable Sensor Holder Guide

What an ATEX retractable sensor holder is used for

The drive inserts the sensor into the process for measurement, then withdraws it into a separate cleaning chamber on the same housing, where it can be rinsed and calibrated without breaking the process seal. That means a pH, conductivity or similar sensor can be maintained on a live line, which matters in hazardous areas where isolating and reopening a process connection adds risk and downtime.

How to choose an ATEX retractable holder

  • Sensor size: the EXtract 810 fits 12 mm sensors from 120 mm to 225 mm long, so check your sensor dimensions before ordering.
  • Material: stainless steel suits most process media; Alloy C22 handles more aggressive chemicals.
  • Pressure and temperature: rated up to 16 bar and -10 to 140 °C, covering most process pH and analysis applications.
  • Automation: pair it with an EXmatic control unit for automatic cleaning and calibration cycles, rather than a manual pull-and-clean routine.
  • Zone: confirm the zone classification at the installation point and we'll confirm the configuration for your area.

FAQ

Common questions

Can the ATEX retractable holder be used in a hazardous area?

Yes, the Exner EXtract 810 is usable in ATEX areas. Tell us the zone classification at the installation point and we'll confirm the correct configuration for your site, since the pneumatic drive and any sensor fitted both need to suit the zone.

What pressure and temperature can the EXtract 810 handle?

Up to 16 bar and 140 °C, with a minimum of -10 °C, which covers most process pH and analysis sensor applications. Check the process conditions at your specific tapping point, since pressure and temperature can vary along a line.

Which materials are the retractable holder available in?

Stainless steel for most process media, or Alloy C22 where the medium is more aggressive or corrosive. Choosing the right material protects both the housing and the sensor it holds over repeated retraction and cleaning cycles.

Can the cleaning and calibration cycle be automated?

Yes. Pairing the EXtract 810 with an EXmatic control unit automates the retraction, rinsing and calibration sequence, so the sensor is serviced on a schedule without an operator manually operating the holder each time.
