Digital Portable Manometer
Precise handheld pressure checks in HVAC, clean rooms and labs with Halstrup-Walcher EMA manometers.
A portable manometer is the handheld tool for checking pressure and differential pressure on site: filter drops, duct and room pressures, burner settings and airflow during commissioning. The Halstrup-Walcher EMA 200 measures pressure and flow rate at ±0.5% FS, and the EMA 84 gives higher accuracy at ±0.2% FS in a rugged housing.

Digital Portable Manometer Guide
What a portable manometer is used for
A service engineer carries a portable manometer to verify pressures that a fixed instrument can't, or to check that an installed transmitter or gauge still reads correctly. Typical jobs include HVAC commissioning and air balancing, checking clean room and room pressure cascades, verifying installed DP transmitters and gauges, and burner or flue draft checks. Because it needs no wiring or process cut-in, it's the fastest way to get a second opinion on a reading during a site visit.
How to choose a portable manometer
- Accuracy: the EMA 84 gives ±0.2% FS for the most demanding checks; the EMA 200 gives ±0.5% FS and covers most routine site work.
- Flow measurement: choose the EMA 200 if you also need to read flow rate, not just pressure, during commissioning.
- Battery life: the EMA 200 runs about 100 hours on a 9 V battery, with a low-battery warning, so it lasts a full day of site work.
- Housing: the EMA 84's rugged housing suits frequent site use and rougher handling.
- Application: for filter and duct pressure drops and room pressure checks, either model is suitable. For the highest precision reference checks, choose the EMA 84 instead of the EMA 200.

FAQ
Common questions
Which digital manometer is more accurate, the EMA 84 or EMA 200?
The EMA 84 is more accurate, at ±0.2% FS, in a rugged housing built for frequent site use. The EMA 200 is ±0.5% FS but also measures flow rate, which the EMA 84 doesn't, so pick the EMA 200 if you need flow as well as pressure, or the EMA 84 for the tighter tolerance.
How long does the EMA 200 manometer's battery last?
About 100 hours on a single 9 V battery, with a low-battery warning so you're not caught out mid-commissioning. That's enough for several days of typical site work between changes.
Can a portable manometer check an installed pressure transmitter?
Yes. Carrying a portable manometer to the point of measurement lets you verify that an installed DP transmitter or gauge still reads correctly, without removing it from service. It's a routine part of commissioning and periodic checks.
What is a portable manometer used for in HVAC commissioning?
It's used to balance airflow, check filter pressure drops across AHUs, verify duct and room pressures, and confirm clean room or isolation room pressure cascades against the design values before handover.
Does a portable manometer also generate test pressure?
No, it only measures. To generate a test pressure and calibrate an installed instrument at several points, use a pressure calibrator instead, such as our Halstrup-Walcher KAL series, which both generates and measures the pressure.
