How a flameproof DP transmitter works
A piezoresistive or capacitive sensor measures the pressure difference between two ports and converts it to a 4 to 20 mA or 0 to 10 V signal. Because the electronics sit inside a flameproof enclosure, the transmitter can be mounted directly in a hazardous area duct or filter housing without a separate barrier, as the enclosure itself is built to contain any internal fault.
How to choose a flameproof DP transmitter
- Range: the Beck 985M offers field-selectable ranges from 0 to 250 mmWC up to 0 to 5000 mmWC, or ±350 mbar, for bag filters and dust collectors; the Produal DPT-R8 gives 8 field-selectable ranges, uni- or bidirectional.
- Accuracy: the Beck 982R gives ±0.5% FS linearity (minimum ±1 Pa); the DPT-R8 gives ±1% accuracy.
- Output: 982R is 2-wire 4 to 20 mA with push-button offset; 985M offers 2-wire or 3-wire with optional LED display and switching output; DPT-R8 gives 0 to 10 V or 4 to 20 mA.
- Certification: Beck transmitters use FLP-JB-IIC enclosures, CIMFR-tested for flameproof duty.

Which flameproof transmitter suits a bag filter?
The Beck 985M, with field-selectable ranges up to 0 to 5000 mmWC and an optional LED display and switching output. It's built for bag filter and dust collector monitoring, giving both a continuous reading and a local alarm contact from one instrument.
Are the flameproof enclosures certified in India?
The Beck FLP-JB-IIC enclosures are CIMFR-tested for flameproof duty. Confirm the certificate for your specific model and installation, since the certification covers the enclosure design together with the approved mounting and wiring method.
Can I change the measurement range on site?
Yes. Both the Beck 985M and the Produal DPT-R8 have field-selectable ranges, so the same transmitter can be reconfigured for a different filter or duct without ordering a new unit, as long as the new range falls within the device's rated span.
What accuracy do these transmitters give?
The Beck 982R gives ±0.5% FS linearity with a minimum of ±1 Pa, and the Produal DPT-R8 gives ±1% accuracy. Choose the 982R where a very low differential needs to be resolved precisely, and the DPT-R8 where field-selectable ranging matters more.
Is a two-wire or three-wire output available?
