How a flameproof pressure transmitter works
A piezoresistive sensor changes electrical resistance under pressure, and the transmitter converts that into a 4 to 20 mA or voltage signal. The flameproof enclosure around the electronics is built to contain any internal fault, so the transmitter can be mounted directly on a process connection in a classified area without a separate isolating barrier.
How to choose a flameproof pressure transmitter
- Standard process pressure: the TFP-40S covers 100 mbar to 600 bar in a stainless steel housing, with ±0.25% or ±0.5% FSO accuracy, for clean liquids and gases.
- Viscous or sticky media: the TFP-300's fully welded 316L flush diaphragm avoids a recessed port that could block, for 100 mbar to 250 bar at ±0.5% FSO (±0.2% optional).
- Certification: the TFP-300 is rated for gas group IIC, T6; confirm the zone, gas group and temperature class at your installation point for both models.
- Output: both give 4 to 20 mA, with voltage output also available on the TFP-40S.
- Housing: the TFP-40S uses a stainless steel housing; the TFP-300's wetted parts are fully welded 316L stainless steel, so there's no gasket or fitting in contact with the process medium.

Common questions
Is a flush diaphragm version available for hazardous areas?
For viscous or sticky media, or media carrying solids, which could block a standard recessed pressure port over time. The Trumen TFP-300's fully welded 316L flush diaphragm sits level with the process connection, so nothing can build up in front of the sensing element.
What pressure ranges do the flameproof transmitters cover?
The TFP-40S covers 100 mbar to 600 bar, and the TFP-300 covers 100 mbar to 250 bar, depending on the model ordered. Choose the range so your normal operating pressure sits comfortably within it, rather than close to the top of the span.
How do I confirm the right certification for my area?
Tell us the zone classification, the gas group and the temperature class of the installation point, and we'll confirm the certified version. The TFP-300, for example, is rated for gas group IIC and temperature class T6 in its flameproof enclosure.
What accuracy can I expect from a flameproof pressure transmitter?
The TFP-40S is available at ±0.25% or ±0.5% FSO, and the TFP-300 at ±0.5% FSO with ±0.2% as an option. Choose the tighter accuracy where the process needs closer control or where the reading feeds a custody or billing measurement.
Can a flameproof pressure transmitter be used on a gas pipeline?
Yes. Flameproof pressure transmitters are used on gas pipelines and skids as well as liquid process lines, since the flameproof enclosure protects against ignition from either a flammable gas leak in the surrounding area or the measured medium itself.
