Multi-loop PID Controllers
Control several temperature or process loops from one compact Shinko controller.
A multi-loop PID controller runs several temperature or process loops from one compact unit instead of a panel full of single-loop controllers. The Shinko multi-loop PID controller measures, controls and monitors up to 1024 points, which suits plants with many heating zones or control loops, such as extruders, multi-zone furnaces or test rigs.

Multi-loop PID Controllers Guide
How a multi-loop PID controller works
Each loop still runs its own PID calculation, comparing a measured value against its own set point and driving its own output, the same as a single-loop controller. The difference is that one unit handles many loops at once, sharing a processor, a display and a communication link instead of giving every loop a separate box, separate wiring back to a panel, and a separate point of failure to check.
Why plants choose a multi-loop controller
- Zone count: the Shinko multi-loop controller handles up to 1024 measurement, control and monitoring points from one unit, which covers most multi-zone furnace or extruder applications without stacking single-loop controllers.
- Panel space and wiring: replacing dozens of single-loop units with one multi-loop controller cuts panel space and the wiring run back to each loop.
- Central monitoring: every loop reports to the same unit, giving one place to check status instead of walking a row of separate controllers.
- When to use single-loop instead: for one or two independent loops, or where a loop must keep running even if the shared controller fails, use separate process PID controllers instead.
Sanity's product record for this controller currently lists only the point count; ask us for the full model number and I/O specification before you finalise a panel design.
FAQ
Common questions
How many loops can a Shinko multi-loop controller handle?
Up to 1024 measurement, control and monitoring points from one unit. That's enough for most multi-zone furnaces, extruders or test rigs without needing several separate controllers. Tell us your zone count and we'll confirm it fits within one unit.
When should I choose a multi-loop controller instead of several single-loop units?
When you have many heating zones or control loops in one system, such as an extruder barrel or a multi-zone furnace, and want to save panel space, cut wiring and monitor every loop from one place. For one or two independent loops, a single-loop PID controller is simpler to wire and replace individually.
What happens to all the loops if the multi-loop controller fails?
Because one unit runs every loop, a fault on the controller itself affects all of them at once, unlike separate single-loop controllers where a fault is isolated to one loop. Where that risk matters, such as a safety-critical zone, keep that loop on its own single-loop controller instead.
Does the multi-loop controller use standard PID control?
Yes. Each loop runs its own PID calculation against its own set point, the same control method as a single-loop controller. The multi-loop unit just runs many of those calculations from one processor and one display instead of one controller per loop.
