A charge-induction dust monitor like the PM-1 or PM-1Pro measures the particles passing a probe instead, which makes it sensitive at the low dust levels found after a bag filter.

Is the PM-1 an opacity monitor?
No. It is a charge-induction particulate monitor. It measures dust from the charge on particles passing its probe rather than with light, which suits low dust levels after bag filters.
Can I connect it to my DCS or PLC?
Yes. The PM-1Pro has a 4 to 20 mA analogue output and two relay outputs. Tell us what your DCS or PLC accepts and we'll confirm the options for the PM-1.
Where is a dust monitor installed?
On a straight section of duct or stack after your dust collector, where the dust is well mixed across the duct.
