Differential Pressure Transmitters for Water

Measure differential pressure across pumps, filters and heat exchangers in water circuits with the Beck 988.

View Products

A differential pressure transmitter for water reads the pressure difference across a pump, filter or heat exchanger and sends it to the BMS as a continuous signal, rather than only an alarm. In chilled water and heating circuits this controls variable-speed pumps, confirms flow, and shows when strainers need cleaning, using the Beck 988.

Differential Pressure Transmitters for Water Guide

How differential pressure control works in water circuits

The transmitter measures the pressure drop between two points, such as across a pump or a strainer. As demand changes, the BMS adjusts a variable-speed pump to hold that differential steady, and a rising drop across a fixed component like a strainer signals it's starting to foul before flow is badly restricted.

Beck 988 differential pressure transmitter

  • Measures: differential pressure and overpressure of liquid and gaseous, non-flammable and non-aggressive media.
  • Ranges: 0 to 2, 0 to 6 and 0 to 10 bar.
  • Sensing cell: ceramic (Al2O3).
  • Output: 4 to 20 mA 2-wire, or 0 to 10 V / 4 to 20 mA 3-wire.
  • Supply: 24 VDC or 24 VAC/DC.

Typical HVAC uses

  • Applications: variable-speed pump control on the index circuit, flow proving across chillers and boilers, and strainer or heat exchanger fouling alarms that catch a problem early.
  • Switch alternative: for a switch instead of a continuous signal, see DP Switch for Water and Liquids.

FAQ

Common questions

Can the Beck 988 control a variable-speed pump?

Yes. Its continuous 4 to 20 mA or 0 to 10 V signal can drive a pump's speed controller to hold a set differential pressure across the index circuit, rather than just alarming when pressure falls outside a limit.

What ranges does the Beck 988 cover?

0 to 2, 0 to 6 and 0 to 10 bar, so you can match the transmitter to the pressure differential your pump, filter or heat exchanger actually produces rather than using one range for every application.

Can it measure glycol mixtures?

The Beck 988 suits non-flammable, non-aggressive liquids. Glycol mixtures at typical HVAC concentrations are usually fine, but tell us the mixture and concentration and we'll confirm compatibility with the ceramic sensing cell.

How does a strainer fouling alarm work with a DP transmitter?

The transmitter reads the pressure drop across the strainer continuously. As debris builds up, the drop rises above its clean value, and the BMS can alarm on that trend before the strainer restricts flow enough to affect the chiller or pump.
