HVAC Air Velocity Transmitters Overview
In HVAC systems, air velocity readings confirm that air handling units, fans and ducts are delivering the design airflow. The BMS uses them to prove fans, alarm on low airflow and balance supply and extract air.

Products
The Produal AVT measures air velocity and temperature in ventilation ducts, with field-selectable range and output and an optional relay output for alarms. The Produal DPT-Flow measures flow rate on centrifugal fans or, with the FloXact™ probe, in ducts.

Common questions
Can one device prove the fan and send airflow to the BMS?
Yes. The AVT sends the air velocity to the BMS and has an optional relay output for a low-airflow alarm.
Where should an air velocity transmitter be mounted?
On a straight section of duct, away from bends, dampers and fans, so the airflow is even.
Velocity or volume flow for my BMS?
Velocity is fine for fan proving and alarms. For balancing or energy calculations, use volume flow from the DPT-Flow.
