HVAC Water Temperature Sensors Overview
Chilled water, heating water and domestic hot water all need temperature measurement for control and protection. The sensor type depends on whether a pocket is available and how fast the response must be.
Produal sensors
- TEAT immersion sensor: installed in an immersion pocket, -50 to 120 °C, AISI 316L probe.
- TENA immersion sensor: designed for domestic hot water control, with a fast response time and R½" thread.
- TEPK strap-on sensor: mounts on the pipe with an adjustable tie, no pocket needed, -20 to 80 °C.
- TEP strap-on sensor (T1 element): for radiator temperatures, -50 to 120 °C.
- TEV frost guard sensor: a fast-response sensor to protect radiators and coils from freezing, R¼" thread.
Choosing
Use an immersion sensor for accuracy on new installations, and a strap-on sensor for retrofits where the pipe can't be opened.
