About this industry
Cement Overview
A cement plant runs hot, dusty and around the clock. Instruments have to survive abrasive powder, kiln heat and vibration, and a failed sensor can stop a mill or a kiln. We supply proven measurement and control products for each stage of the process, from quarry material to the packing plant.
Raw material, silos and conveying
Silos, hoppers and bins hold limestone, raw meal, coal, clinker and cement. Vibrating fork, rotating paddle and admittance level switches detect high and low levels in dusty solids, and radar and ultrasonic level transmitters give a continuous reading. On belts, chutes and bucket elevators, chute jam, boot and pendulum level switches stop blockages before they spill.
Preheater, kiln and cooler
Stable draft through the preheater cyclones, kiln hood and ID fan keeps combustion and heat use under control. Draft pressure transmitters from Beck and Halstrup-Walcher measure these low pressures reliably. A kiln shell hot spot monitoring system scans the rotating shell, including the area under the tyres, and warns of refractory damage early. Infrared pyrometers measure clinker, cooler and process temperatures without contact.
Fans, mills and airflow
Vibration sensors from Hauber watch fans, raw and cement mills, gearboxes and motors, so bearing and balance problems show up before a breakdown. Airflow and velocity transmitters, pitot tubes, Wilson flow grids and vortex probes measure combustion air, coal mill air and duct flow.
Bag filters and stack emissions
Bag filters and electrostatic precipitators must keep dust in. Broken bag detectors from Auburn give an early alarm when a filter bag tears, and continuous stack dust monitoring helps plants track particulate emissions.
Control and plant networks
Process and PID controllers, digital indicators, remote I/O modules and Modbus and PROFINET protocol converters connect field instruments to the plant control system.
We supply these brands across India from Ahmedabad and help with product selection and after-sales support.

FAQ
Common questions
Which level switch works best in a cement silo?
For dry, dusty solids such as raw meal, fly ash, clinker and cement, vibrating fork, vibrating rod, rotating paddle and admittance level switches are the usual choices. For a continuous level reading, a guided wave radar or ultrasonic level transmitter is used. Tell us the material, silo height and mounting point and we will suggest a model.
How does kiln shell hot spot monitoring work?
Infrared scanners measure the temperature of the rotating kiln shell along its length. The software builds a temperature map and raises an alarm when a zone gets too hot, which usually means refractory lining is wearing or has fallen. Early warning lets the plant act before the shell is damaged.
Why measure draft pressure in a cement plant?
Draft pressure in the preheater cyclones, kiln inlet and ID fan shows how gas moves through the system. Stable draft keeps combustion efficient, prevents cyclone blockages and protects the fan. Low-range differential pressure transmitters are used for this.
What does a broken bag detector do?
It sits in the duct after a bag filter and senses the dust particles in the gas. When a bag tears, the dust level rises and the detector raises an alarm, so the damaged bag can be replaced before emissions go up.
Can these instruments connect to our plant DCS or PLC?
Yes. Most transmitters give a 4–20 mA output, many support Modbus, and our protocol converters and remote I/O modules link field devices to Modbus TCP and PROFINET networks.
