About this industry
Glass Overview
A glass plant melts at very high temperature and runs without a break for years. Temperature, furnace pressure and material flow have to stay steady, because a drift shows up as a defect in the glass or a wasted campaign. We supply measurement and control products for each stage of the process, from batch handling to the cold end.
Batch house and raw material handling
Silos and hoppers hold sand, soda ash, limestone and cullet. Vibrating fork, vibrating rod, rotating paddle and admittance level switches detect high and low levels in dry, dusty solids. Pendulum and boot level switches on conveyors and elevators warn of blockages before they spill.
Furnace and combustion
Furnace pressure and combustion air draft decide how evenly the glass melts and how much fuel is used. Draft pressure transmitters and differential pressure switches from Beck and Halstrup-Walcher measure these low pressures reliably. Infrared pyrometers from Calex read temperature without touching the hot surface, and multi-channel data loggers record it for review.
Conditioning, forming and annealing
Temperature control through the forehearth, forming and annealing stages sets glass quality. Process and PID controllers and programmable profile controllers from Shinko hold set temperatures and run annealing profiles, while digital indicators show process values at the panel.
Fans, blowers and rotating equipment
Vibration sensors from Hauber watch fans, blowers, pumps and motors, so bearing and balance problems show up before a breakdown. Pitot tubes, air flow and velocity transmitters and portable velocity meters measure air and gas flow in ducts and stacks.
Dust, emissions and utilities
Broken bag detectors from Auburn give an early alarm when a filter bag tears. Cooling and process water is checked with pH, ORP and conductivity analysers from Chemitec.
Plant networks
Remote I/O modules connect field instruments to the plant control system.
We supply these brands across India from Ahmedabad and help with product selection and after-sales support.

FAQ
Common questions
Which level switch works best in a glass batch silo?
For dry, dusty solids such as sand, soda ash and cullet, vibrating fork, vibrating rod, rotating paddle and admittance level switches are the usual choices. Tell us the material, silo height and mounting point and we will suggest a model.
How can furnace temperature be measured without contact?
Infrared pyrometers read the temperature of a hot surface from a distance, so nothing has to survive inside the furnace. Choose the wavelength and field of view to suit the target, and we can help with the selection.
Why measure draft pressure on a glass furnace?
Furnace pressure and combustion air draft affect melting, fuel use and refractory life. Low-range differential pressure transmitters are used to keep them stable.
What does a broken bag detector do?
It sits in the duct after a bag filter and senses dust in the gas. When a bag tears, the dust level rises and the detector raises an alarm, so the bag can be replaced before emissions go up.
Can these instruments connect to our plant DCS or PLC?
Yes. Most transmitters give a 4–20 mA output, many support Modbus, and our remote I/O modules link field devices to your control system.
