Liquid & Gas Analysis Instruments
Analysers and sensors for water, process liquids and gases from Kuntze, Chemitec, Exner, KxS and Auburn.
Liquid and gas analysis instruments measure what's dissolved or suspended in water and process fluids, such as pH, chlorine, oxygen, turbidity and organic load, for dosing control, quality checks and effluent compliance. This page covers pH/ORP, disinfectant, water-quality and biomass analysers from Chemitec, Kuntze and Exner, plus dust monitors, oxygen probes and refractometers.

Selection guide
Liquid & Gas Analysis Instruments Guide
Choosing a liquid or gas analyser
Start from what you need to measure, not the brand.
- Acidity or oxidising power: a pH & ORP electrode with a pH/ORP transmitter or controller.
- Disinfectant residual: the four oxidants aren't interchangeable, so match the sensor to the chemical: a chlorine analyser for free, total or dioxide, an ozone analyzer, a hydrogen peroxide analyser or a peracetic acid analyzer.
- General water quality: conductivity transmitters, a dissolved oxygen analyzer, a turbidity sensor, a suspended solids analyser and BOD/COD measurement cover the parameters most effluent plants log for online continuous effluent monitoring (OCEMS).
- Process concentration: a cell growth and biomass sensor tracks fermentation by NIR absorbance, and an inline process refractometer reads concentration directly across six industries.
- Dust in the process: add a broken bag leak detector or an opacity and dust monitor.
- Heat-treatment furnaces: an oxygen probe reads carbon potential.
- Housing: mount any of these sensors in retractable sensor housings for cleaning or removal without stopping the process.
Where these analysers are used
- Effluent treatment plants: combine several of the above: pH for neutralisation, dissolved oxygen for aeration control, suspended solids and turbidity for clarity, and BOD/COD for organic load, usually reporting to a Chemitec Series 46 or Series 50 controller.
- Food, beverage, dairy and pharma: use the disinfectant and biomass sensors for CIP and fermentation control.
- Pulp, paper, chemicals and semiconductor: lean on conductivity and the refractometers.
Tell us the medium and what you're trying to control, and we'll recommend the sensor and transmitter combination.
FAQ
Common questions
What does a liquid and gas analyser measure?
It gives a continuous electrical reading of a water or process quality parameter, such as pH, disinfectant residual, dissolved oxygen, turbidity or organic load, instead of a one-off lab sample. The sensor sits in or on the pipe or tank, and a transmitter or controller converts its signal into a display, alarm and often a dosing command.
How many parameters can one controller handle?
The Chemitec range covers one to eight. Series 30 is single-channel, Series 46 handles one or two parameters, and Series 50 logs up to eight simultaneous measurements with a colour display and four analogue outputs, useful when several sensors feed one monitoring point.
Which parameters feed an effluent monitoring system?
Most online continuous effluent monitoring setups combine pH, dissolved oxygen, suspended solids, turbidity and BOD/COD, sometimes with conductivity and chlorine. We supply the sensors and analysers; check with your integrator which models are approved for your reporting requirement.
Do you supply pH, chlorine and turbidity sensors from one brand?
Mostly Chemitec, for consistent wiring, output and controller compatibility across parameters. Electrodes also come from Kuntze, and biomass and turbidity NIR sensors from Exner, so the exact brand depends on which parameter and range you need.
How do I know which analyser fits my process?
Tell us the parameter, the expected range, the medium's temperature and pressure, and whether the liquid is clean or carries solids. We'll match it to a sensor and transmitter combination and flag any accessory, such as a retractable housing, that the installation needs.
Can these sensors be removed for cleaning without stopping the process?
Yes, with a retractable housing. A manual or pneumatic mechanism withdraws the sensor from the pipe or tank under pressure, so you can clean or swap it without a process shutdown. Static and immersion fittings are also available for lower-maintenance points.
