About this industry

Tyre Overview

Tyre making depends on heat, pressure and time. Rubber compound has to be mixed, extruded and calendered at the right temperature, and every green tyre has to cure under steady steam and gas pressure. We supply measurement, control and automation products for each stage of a tyre plant, from raw material silos to the curing hall.

Raw material and carbon black handling

Carbon black, fillers and chemicals are stored in silos and bins and moved by conveyors and pneumatic lines. Boot and membrane level switches and pendulum level switches from Filsa signal high and low levels in powders and granules. At transfer points, a chute jam level switch stops a blockage before material spills.

Mixing, extrusion and calendering

Compound temperature decides how well rubber mixes and how it behaves later. RTD probes and thermocouples with temperature transmitters measure mixer, extruder and roll temperatures. Infrared temperature sensors from Calex read the surface of moving sheets and strips without contact. Process and PID controllers and digital indicators from Shinko hold each zone at its setpoint.

Curing presses

Curing presses run on steam, hot water and nitrogen. Adjustable, gas and vacuum pressure switches from Beck guard bladder and platen circuits, and the Pixsys DST400 gives a local pressure reading with switch outputs. Digital temperature switches watch press temperatures and trip an alarm when a cycle drifts.

Machine automation

On calenders, cutters and tyre building machines, format changes take time. HIPERDRIVE positioning systems and integrated stepper motors from Halstrup-Walcher set guides, stops and spindles automatically, so a size change is quicker and repeatable.

Utilities and water

Boilers, thermic fluid heaters and air handling all feed the process. Draft pressure transmitters, differential pressure gauges and controllers, air flow switches and pitot tubes cover burners, fans and ducts. For cooling towers and boiler water, pH electrodes from Kuntze and conductivity transmitters, chlorine analysers and turbidity sensors from Chemitec keep water chemistry in check.

Mixers, fans and dust collection

Internal mixers, mills, motors and fans carry heavy loads. Vibration sensors from Hauber flag bearing and balance problems early, and a portable vibration meter supports routine checks. Dust from carbon black and powder handling goes to bag filters, where broken bag detectors from Auburn warn of a torn bag before dust reaches the stack. In the electrical rooms, busbar temperature monitoring spots hot joints.

We supply these brands across India from Ahmedabad and help with product selection and after-sales support.

FAQ

Common questions

How is rubber temperature measured on a calender or extruder?

Rubber sheets and strips move continuously, so a non-contact infrared sensor aimed at the surface is the usual choice. Inside the barrel or on the rolls, an RTD or thermocouple with a transmitter gives a 4–20 mA signal to the controller.

Which pressure switch suits a curing press?

It depends on the medium and range. Adjustable pressure switches work on steam and water lines, gas pressure switches on nitrogen, and vacuum switches on bladder evacuation. Tell us the medium, range and connection and we will suggest a model.

Which level switch works in a carbon black silo?

Carbon black is light and dusty. Membrane and boot level switches are common in bins and hoppers, and a pendulum switch suits open piles and conveyors. Share the material and mounting point and we will recommend one.

How does a broken bag detector work?

A probe in the outlet duct of the bag filter picks up the charge carried by dust particles. When a bag tears, the dust load rises and the detector raises an alarm, so the bag can be changed before emissions climb.

Can these instruments connect to our PLC or DCS?

Yes. Most transmitters give a 4–20 mA output, many support Modbus, and the positioning systems connect over common fieldbuses.
